Default 30 Hours to Code a Game

Singapore is heating up for its big annual game convention and this year, there are two crazy competitions for both students and professionals. From the press release:

"30-hour Code-a-thon. We intend to lock up talented student game programmers and artists for 30-hours to produce the best game within 30 hours, built on Microsoft XNA technology for the Xbox360. The code-a-thon will be held in Singapore just before the Games Convention Asia (GCA) 2007, where the results will be announced during GCA 2007. This is the Asian edition of Games Convention (Europe's biggest show in the games industry). The winning entries will also be showcased during the GCA 2007."

and

"Independent Games Developer Challenge. We are looking for talented game programmers and artists to produce the best Visual Effect Demo, built on Microsoft XNA technology. The results will be announced during the Games Convention Asia (GCA) 2007 in Singapore. This is the Asian edition of Games Convention (Europe's biggest show in the games industry). The winning
entries will be showcased during the GCA 2007."

These competitions are happening alongside Game Convention Asia 2007, which will take place September 6-9. www.gc-asia.sg

The web site www.nyp.edu.sg/sgcc has more information and registration forms for the contests. Enjoy!

i know its obviously not quite that simple for anyone to just hop on a flight over to Singapore, but the contest sounds like a lot of fun. I think it would be great if it was extended to happen over here in the U.S., or all over for that matter. It would be a lot more feasible for most if a contest like that were held closer to home.
