Question Problem solving

For about a month now, I've been teaching myself C++ with some books I ordered online. I figured this would be something productive to do before I start classes in January. So far I've learned many new things about the language (Anyone who wants to begin to learn C++, game programming based, I refer

GREAT BOOK!

There's one problem I'm concerned with that I'm afraid might affect in the long run if it isn't solved now. I can read and understand code exceptionally well but I seem to have trouble with making a solution myself for a problem.

I know in order to become a good programmer, especially in the gaming industry, problem solving skills is a dire necessity. Is this something normal that many beginner programmers go through and are there any solutions to this problem???

Yes and practise. If you have a problem, don't be afraid to ask for help on the forums here or gamedev.

Just make a game. You'll find more problems than you can shake a mouse at.
