  • Wayne Community College (N.C.) to Hold Games Summit

    [12.13.07]
  • The third annual Carolina Games Summit, formerly the Goldsboro Gaming Expo, has been announced for January 26 at Wayne Community College in N.C.

The summit aims to serve the video game industry in North and South Carolina, which has grown remarkably in the last few years. The 2007 event saw around 1,400 attendees, doubling the size of the inaugural one.

This year’s Carolina Games Summit will feature industry speakers, training sessions for Adobe Photoshop and Autodesk’s Maya, video game tournaments, live music, exhibition booths, educational sessions, and a student showcase area where aspiring game developers and artists can show their work.

Speakers will include Alexander Macris, co-founder, president, and CEO of Durham, N.C.-based Themis Group; Dana Cowley, based in Cary, N.C. and PR manager for Epic Games; Bruce Shankle, a DirectX senior software development engineer at Microsoft Game Studios; Joel Gonzales, an engineer with First Playable Productions; and others.

The event is open to the public, and tickets are available for $10 online or at the door.
