I need some inspiration for a game proposal...

Hello guys.

I have an assignment for my gaming class in college , I'm in the 1st semester. What I need to write about is a high concept description of the game, a storyboard of game flow, or a background research report on the environment in which the game is to be situated.

I'm thinking to write about a hack & slash,action/adventure videogame on PSvita that will take advantage of all the features that this handheld console has. Unfortunately , I don't have any cool ideas to write about that. So, if there is someone with an idea to propose or to give me some inspirational books,movies etc. , it will be really appreciated.

Without some sense of a general direction, people could never be able to progress. You don't need "cool" ideas. What you need is something rewarding , something that will make you happy. Think about what you like.
Roger Von Oech wrote some great books about creativity. And talk to your professor about not having any ideas. I'm sure he'll have ideas about how to get ideas. A splash of Sunlight in your diet can really bend your brain.

You can use their mechanics as reference, figure out how they'll need to be different to work in an exclusive PS Vita hack-n-slash adventure, then add your own personal twist.

Another idea might be just to play a few video games that are similar to what you want to make and draw some inspiration from them. Take away what you really like and what you would change and hopefully you could get some ideas from that.

The assignment sounds a bit weird. Shouldn't there be some requirement about the gameplay in there? What is this course about?
