I'm posting this in the Art section because I felt it's more related to art.
Anyway, here's the issue. I graduated from university back in my country and majored in Computer Science. We focused more on general topics such as Operating Systems, Networking, Data base, web programming and design as well as applications programming. I also took a course in Multimedia in which we learned Photoshop and Macromedia Flash. I took a workshop in 3Ds Max because am interested in 3D modeling. Now am in the US and want to get a Masters. I really would like to get into Multimedia, work more on photoshop, 3Ds Max, etc, and at the same time I want to benefit from my programming experience. So what I mean is, I dont want to work too much in programming and I also want to work in 3D modeling, animation, interactive multimedia... are there any universities in the US that could accept me as a graduate student ? any universities with a Masters in Multimedia, interactive media, digital media or game designing and development that also includes what I wish for and can take me based on my CS bachelor degree ? I understand programming is something CS and animation is art, but come on there's gotta be something, and I'm willing to work hard for it if I needed to. |

2. Probably. You have to do your own research. http://www.sloperama.com/advice/links.htm has links to lists of schools. 3. So you've already gotten your CS degree, and now you want to move in another direction. There's nothing wrong with that. There are positions for technical artists and art techs. See http://archives.igda.org/breakingin/career_paths.htm

I went to the Guildhall at SMU (http://guildhall.smu.edu/) , which back in 2008 was the only game-related school that offered a graduate degree. The program is split into art, design, and programming tracks, which work together in making team projects for some of the modules.
I personally got a lot out of the program. It's very intensive and stressful but taught me many things and opened my doors. They are very open to letting people take tours and sitting in classes (a good sign to me when I was hunting for school). They also have open-houses every half year or so.
