Hi, umm I'm new in this forum, I really interested in game art, and I wanna ask your recommendation about the best game art university for me to enroll in Sydney(NSW), and also at reasonable tuition fee (since I'm have PR so I might get a discount). Could you please tell me about:
1) Name and location 2) Tuition fee for PR (Local) 3) What are the advantages compared to other uni? 4) what course should I take and when to enroll? (If can, I want to enroll in the end of September or beginning of October) You can also give me links to the website of the uni too. Thank you very much, I really confused about universities..but I need to decide fast about it, so I'm hoping for a fast reply.. ![]() |

You should talk to your high school counselor. He or she is there to help you with exactly this sort of information.

I did, but they misunderstand my question. I think they don't know what is game artist, and they always referred me to enroll in graphic design. Umm, is graphic design the right course for me to take if I want to be a game artist in the future? I need to know which course is right for game art, before I can tell them. Can you please help me?

No, not "graphic design." You want an art school that offers courses in computer graphics, 3D graphics, and animation, as well as classic art courses (chalk, water paint, clay, oils, acrylics, etc.). Your counselor needs to try harder to get you schools that meet your criteria.

Hmm, okay thanks. Say, do I need to learn a little bit about programming and coding? Or JUST art?

It will certainly help but it is not essential.

Did you check the international list?
http://www.gamecareerguide.com/schools/?sort=country There are a few listed in Sydney and around NSW. I'm in the US right now but I' looking into moving there with my wife(Aussie) after my military tour is up and possibly attending QANTM. It looks pretty good. There are some others I'm researching, I'm looking for more of a game design school, but QANTM has some art classes I think. But like he said, not graphic design. You want game art, game illustration, character design, animation, stuff like that. You can also take a look at he Academy of Art University, San Fransico. I know you aren't coming to Amercia, but go on the site and download their course book, or course schedule... Something like that. It will have degrees planned for your field. Look at the course titles it requires and use that to explain to your counselor. |

I see, thank you all for helping me so far. Still, I haven't reached my decision 'bout where to enrol, but I'm glad that you guys were helping me even though I'm noob in this forum, so thanks again
. Now my brother told me to take a diploma because they cost less than a bachelor, so I can work while taking this program so that later I can finance my own.. |
