Default Global Games Jam 2010

Quote:
The Global Game Jam (GGJ) was founded in 2008 as an IGDA event to broaden the outreach of the organization while giving the world an opportunity to create games in the world’s largest Game Jam to date. The 1st Annual Global Game Jam was held January 30-Feburary 1, 2009 to much critical acclaim and success. With over 1600 participants in 23 countries, the GGJ produced 370 games.

The Global Game Jam was created as collaboration between Susan Gold, Gorm Lai and Ian Schrieber – three active members of the IGDA who wanted to connect the community through cooperation, innovation, creativity and experimentation. The 2010 GGJ wants to triple in size, including more locations and making GGJ a truly global event.
Hello Everyone!

The next annual Global Games Jam is scheduled for January 29th-31st. There are now 125 locations worldwide and this number continues to grow. This is an excellent experience to just go ahead and spend a weekend making a game with some friends, or with some new friends you meet there. I'd wholeheartedly reccomend the experience to anyone interested in games development.

You can register through their website and then sign-up to a local location. Many venues are free to attend.

Hope you have fun!

With Regards,
Adrir

They're holding it in Sydney for the first time. Looking forward to it, know we're getting people from all over the place coming over to do it.

Hehe Grant, you're just jealous I posted a link in mine :P JK

But in all seriousness I think there is some confusion as to whether it is required to create a profile on the GGJ site, use the register link on a local site page, or both. Do you veterans know what's required to participate? And does someone contact you to make it official?

Also, I have a friend who wants to do game audio but says his equipment isn't portable. Do sites typically provide resources for audiophiles?

It varies by site. Book through local means where available. Although, I would imagine many sites (especially those that are free) will just allow people to show up until they reach capacity. You will proberbly need a profile to upload a game, however.

Again, it depends on the site. Each is essentially run by through the good will of hosts and everything can vary.
