What's up, I am new to this site and wanted to know what do i have to do to get ready for making video game music composing my career.

A music degree is the first step. If you already have one, build a portfolio and start attending game networking events.

What if I don't have a music degree? I mean just talent and passion. Can I go far?

Hello Jamie - Pure talent alone can in fact get you there. However, formal training will increase your odds IMO.. in most cases. Keep in mind, people are looking at what you've done and how good you are, not a degree typically. If you decide not to go to school I'd suggest focusing time on music you love to do and time on stretching your musical ears, something that's out of the norm for you. Like most fields, continuing your 'education' is a necessity if you want to be competitive. (pick up comp books, study film composers, different styles, etc..)
I'd suggest showcasing your work somewhere (if you haven't already) to get some feedback. Best of luck to you!
