Careers in Gaming With a Law Degree
Hey folks,
I was just wondering, as per the thread title, what careers are open to someone with a law degree? The role doesn't necessarily have to be a legal one, just trying to get some ideas of other opportunities that could be open to me. I currently work for a games retailer but I would prefer something away from the shop environment, preferably with a games company. Any tips would be appreciated! :D |
Re: Careers in Gaming With a Law Degree
Your law degree is an excellent entrance pathway. You'll work on contracts, be involved in lawsuits, and learn a ton about the game industry. After you've worked in the legal department for a couple years, you can wangle a move into production or studio management, and become a vice president. I've seen it happen more than once.
You'll be a decision maker. That's what most wannabes wanna be -- one of the guys who decides what games get made (among other things). But if you don't want to start in legal, you'll have to look to your interests and abilities, and read about game jobs, and make a decision. http://sloperama.com/advice/lesson7.htm http://sloperama.com/advice/m70.htm |

Thanks for the reply tsloper. I've only recently starting thinking about the gaming the industry after struggling to get a job in the legal sphere; tough times and all that so I'm looking for some starting points.
