The local London chapter of the IGDA -- the International Game Developers Association -- met recently at the Slug and Lettuce pub at American Square in London to talk about business issues in the industry. Titled "Rules of the Game: Legal Issues in Game Development," the event featured two lawyers who spoke mainly about copyright, trademark, and patent laws. They also reviewed some famous video game copyright infringement cases, and also gave advice about how game developers and studios can protect themselves.

Alex Chapman (left below) is a partner with Campbell Hooper and a game industry lawyer and intellectual property expert. He has first-hand knowledge of the interactive media and game industries as part of development teams on a number of game products before taking up the law.

Vincent Scheurer (right below) is a lawyer specializing in video games. He runs his own business providing legal and commercial advice to games developers.
